●Report on the 16th JEMEA lecture held on Friday, May 30, 2025
On Friday, May 30, the JEMEA Annual General Meeting and the 16th Japan Society of Electromagnetic Energy Applications Conference were held online (Zoom).
We would like to provide the following information regarding the conference.
【Lecture Report】
Program of JEMEA 16th Lecture Meeting
●Participants at the lecture: 46 people – 10 of which were non-members (4 of which were members of supporting organizations)
●We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the speakers:
John F. Gerling (Gerling Consulting, Inc. USA),
Kazuyuki Saito (Frontier Medical Engineering Center, Chiba University),
Norio Niwa (G-Enex Co., Ltd.), and
Mutsumi Yoshida (Fuji Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.) (in order of presentations).
●This symposium was sponsored by the following organizations:
IEEE MTT-S Japan/Kansai/Nagoya Chapter/Society of Chemical Engineers/
Society of Polymer Science/Japan Resources and Materials Science Society/
Catalysis Society/Japan Electroheat Center (JEHC)/
The Society of Rubber Industry, Japan/The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan
●We would like to thank all the participants, the chairpersons,
Professor Satoshi Horikoshi (Sophia University/JEMEA President), Ms. Nagisa Kuwahara (Sophia University/JEMEA Vice Director),and the sponsoring organizations for their help in introducing the lectures to their members.
●The first speaker of the day, Professor Gerling, gave a lecture in English, but the audience asked many questions,
which led to many questions for the subsequent lectures as well, helping to deepen our understanding of the content of the lectures.
The speakers have provided their contact information in their abstracts, so we hope you will be able to ask them questions directly in the future.
●In the survey, we received comments such as:
– It was interesting to learn about how microwaves are used in the medical field, which is different from our heating field.
– The video examples were convincing. (The above are about Dr. Saito’s lecture)
– The specific numerical comments such as “In this case, XXkW is the limit” were very helpful.
(About Mr. Yoshida’s lecture)
We received comments such as the above.

【Upcoming Events】
●JEMEA is planning to hold the following events in the future:
●8/28-30/2025: “19th Japan Society of Electromagnetic Energy Applications Symposium” (Sympo2025 (Konan University @ Kobe))
【Sympo2025】
●The Academic Foundations Working Group is open to JEMEA members only, but they hold online “web discussions” from 4:00 p.m. on the third Friday of every odd-numbered month.
【General Information for Academic Foundation Working Group】
●We will also announce the summer school and the 1st Freshman Seminar (Advanced) hosted by the JEMEA Young Researchers Working Group as soon as the plans are complete.
We will be sending out information emails to JEMEA members and those who have previously attended our society’s events.
Please plan to attend.
